Christopher is a financial remedy and TOLATA specialist.

Christopher’s dual financial remedy and TOLATA/trust practice means that he is well placed to assist clients and parties in financial remedy proceedings where trust/property ownership issues are a key feature.

Christopher’s practical and concise approach to cases assists clients in finding a workable solution to prospective litigation. Christopher places great emphasis on working as a team with professional clients, from the outset, to prepare a case and explore settlement options.

His practice includes cases where:

• pre and post-nuptial agreements feature, including challenges to those agreements;

• properties and other assets, including pensions, are located abroad;

• businesses and partnerships are a central part of the proceedings;

• complex pensions issues arise; and

• where assets are dissipated and injunction applications are issued.

His practice includes cases where:

 • issues relating to a child’s education need to be determined, including which school a child should attend;

• a parent wishes to relocate to a different part of the UK, or to another country;

• where a parent is seeking shared care; or

• there are allegations of domestic abuse

Christopher’s TOLATA practice includes both cohabitation cases and where properties are owned for investment purposes. He regularly speaks at conferences/webinars on TOLATA matters throughout the year.

His practice includes drafting pleadings, advising in person and in writing (both pre and post action), and representing clients at case management conferences, other hearings and trials.

W v H (Private FDR Advocate 2023): Represented (W) in a needs-based case involving complicated/significant health problems.  Periodical payments and health policy issues, linked to the health difficulties, were all in contention.  Matrimonial/non-matrimonial pension, and earning capacity, arguments also in dispute. Parties reached an agreement.

W v H (Private FDR Advocate 2023): Represented (H) in a multi million pound generational farming case.  Complex trust/minority discount and expert evidence issues in dispute. Matrimonial and non-matrimonial property arguments involved. Parties reached an agreement.

W v H (Private FDR Advocate 2024): Represented (H) in a dispute involving multiple domestic, commercial and foreign properties.  A limited company, liquidity arguments and the alleged wrongful transfer of shares all featured. Parties reached an agreement.
